Reared on a farm in an area of Alabama where the cotton and hills conjoin, Alan obtained his undergraduate degree in English from the descriptively named University of North Alabama. After a limited exploration of the technical side of performance (including brief stints with such deep-south staples as Lynyrd Skynyrd and the WWE) Alan headed north(ish). He's currently concluding a MA in Theatre History at The Catholic University of America and working as a freelance dramaturg in the DC area while (often simultaneously) being unfailingly polite to patrons in his front of house positions at Signature and Studio theatres.
