Moments of Vision

We launched our first-ever season on May 9th, 2011 at 9pm at Busboys and Poets in Chinatown. A great crowd came out to eat, drink, and laugh with us as our company members regaled them with song. Artistic Director of Cabarets, Lizy Hallacy, put together the event and directed the performances while genius AJ Welch accompanied on the piano.

Entitled "Moments of Vision," all of the songs revolved around a turning point in the character's life. The singers all shared a personal anecdote with the crowd before performing, which ranged from stories about missing the days of sitting at home playing video games, to one company member's dream of growing up to be the next Dolly Parton.

Here are the songs that we performed:

Lizy Hallacy singing "It Might As Well Be Spring" from State Fair by Rodgers and Hammerstein
Kyle Encinas singing "Who I'd Be" from Shrek by Jeanine Tesori and David Lindsay-Abaire
Tina Steier singing "Pulled" from the Adams Family by Andrew Lippa
Tyler Budde singing "Guido's Song" from Nine by Maury Yeston
Katie Lock singing "Why Was I Born" from Sweet Adeline by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II
Josh Dick singing "I Want to Go Back" by Mike Ruby and Rob Rokicki
Ezree Mualem singing "Ms. Byrd" from Closer Than Ever by Maltby and Shire
Caroline Mahoney singing "Get Out and Stay Out" from 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton
Kellen Quigley & Amanda Smith playing and singing "Looking Up" from Elegies: A Song Cycle by William Finn
Liz Ennis singing "Astonishing" from Little Women by Jason Howland and Mindi Dickstein
